Our 2011 Holiday Fundraiser

Our 2011 Holiday Fundraiser will benefit ETCC.

The Edmondson-Telford Center provides services to Hall and Dawson County residents under the age of 18 who are victims of sexual or severe physical abuse or neglect, as well as their non-offending family members. We offer a safe environment for crisis intervention and medical advocacy as the victim moves through the examination and investigation steps. We also work with other local agencies to support the victim through the court process. It is our goal to assist agencies, also working on behalf of child victims, and provide information to ensure the child’s safety and begin the healing process.

The Center has served over 1,200 children and families since beginning in 1997. Edmondson-Telford has conducted over 500 forensic examination interviews of sexually abused victims and coordinated hundreds of child abuse investigations with law enforcement and social services agencies. All services are provided free-of-charge to victims and are provided to English and non-English speaking persons.

Through the compassionate, professional services provided by the Edmondson-Telford Center, the trauma experienced by victimized children can be significantly reduced. Also, law enforcement officials receive higher quality evidence for use in prosecution of their cases. Our multi-disciplinary approach to child abuse cases has proven critical in the successful prosecution of countless offenders and has increased the prosecution rates of child offenders in Hall and Dawson Counties.

Currently, the Edmondson-Telford Center for Children and Hall-Dawson CASA program are combining their resources to construct a new facility to co-locate these agencies and offer their combined services of assisting child victims. This new facility will centralize the services offered by both agencies, thus increasing victim’s access and offering a more compassionate, child-friendly and child-centered campus. The new facility, The Little House, will enable victims to rebuild their lives while in a caring, safe home environment. More information about our new building, The Little House, is available here.

Today's Wednesday Wedding features Dale's & Blair's Wedding. Their wedding was at the gorgeous Lake Lanier Island Pineisle Point. The bride looked incredible and the evening was extraordinary. We served six yummy flavors to the lovely couple and their guests including Vanilla Bean, Milk Chocolate, Mocha, Butterscotch, Coconut and Keylime Pie. The Mocha was a hit!

The espresso beans flavor mixed with the Swiss dark chocolate is just "sinful".

As a American visiting Rome several years ago, I reminisce on the time I spent visiting the ancient sites and enjoying my hazelnut and chocolate gelato. Delicious!!!!

My personal favorite thing to do while enjoying delicious gelato is watching an action packed movie like The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. While Cinnamon gelato is a "must have" dessert and this movie is a "must see". The movie has great action, a wonderful store line. lots of emotions and ties perfectly back to the original movie.

Indian Wedding - Gelato Cart

A couple of months ago, we catered our first Indian wedding. It was a blast!

Over 300 guests were served gelato in 30 minutes; therefore, the photographer did not have time to capture the serving of the gelato. Unfortunate, but I was still able to obtain some images of the beautiful bride.

New Flavor: Banana Fosters

As a small artisan gelato shop, we don't have a team of scientists on staff to test millions of different ingredient combinations. Our creative customers and talented employees never cease to recommend amazing flavors.

Our banana foster gelato is courtesy of my mother-in-law. She was visiting in January and wanted something sweet. We only had bananas, leftover vanilla bean gelato and cinnamon so I decided to make banana foster with vanilla gelato. Before she ate a bite, she reminded me that she is not a fan of bananas. After her last bite, I reminded her that gelato makes everything taste so much better. At that moment, a new dreamy gelato flavor was created.

Our banana fosters gelato has been a hit in the store. It is super delicious with the dark chocolate gelato.

February Offer - Delicious Hot Chocolate

I love hot chocolate made with pure molten chocolate and milk. It is simple, yet delicious! No added sugar and no powdered mixes. I had my first hot chocolate this way in Ireland and just fell in love.

For over a year, we have had customers request that we offer our gelato prepackaged for events. We struggled with the decision because we wanted to make sure that offering our gelato in a prepackaged container would not affect the quality our customers expected from our gelato.

We wanted to keep our packaging simple because the gelato deserves all the attention. The clear top is perfect for admiring the gelato before consumption.

Indian Wedding & Reception

The end of last year, we had the opportunity to cater gelato for the very first time at an Indian reception. We were a little nervous, but very excited. I must admit that the event exceeded my expectations. It was so much fun!

We served several traditional flavors like pistachio gelato and mango sorbet. In addition, we served some unique flavors like sweet cheese gelato and burnt caramel pecan gelato. The guests were full of energy and passion. We served over 300 guests in 30 minutes. I have never moved so fast!

I wish I took some pictures, but once we finish setting up, we were serving gelato. I spoke with the photographer who confirmed that she too was unable to take pictures of the gelato. I promise to take pictures next time and share them on our blog.

Our special couple getting married today selected two artisan gelato/sorbet flavors, but the groom was determined to have all things mango. He wanted mango sorbet.

After learning that this amazing, terminally ill gentleman wants our mango sorbet has affected us deeply. This flavor will forever have a special place in our hearts.

At Dreamy Gelato & Chocolates we strive to raise the bar because not all gelato is created equal.

Great gelato is made from scratch, fresh with exceptional ingredients. I like fresh fruits that we source from local grocery stores or farmers' markets, but I love fruits directly from the farm.

I recently had the opportunity to work with the talented people at Gloriosa for an event at Serenbe. The chef at Gloriosa provided fresh fruits (figs, pears and apples) from the farm for us to use to create custom gelato flavors for this event.

October and November are the perfect months to enjoy pumpkins, the Fall favorite fruit.

Our pumpkin gelato is handmade in our store from scratch daily. When the cinnamon and nutmeg are added to the recipe, the entire store smells like pumpkin pie.

I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin gelato. Another fall favorite is toasted marshmallows. I have never had toasted marshmallow latte until today. I am totally hooked!

The luxury Dancing Goats espresso beans we offer complemented with pumpkin or maple spice is "like Christmas in a cup".

This week, we are featuring Trattoria 141 Restaurant in Johns Creek, Georgia.

Trattoria 141 Restaurant is a truly unique adult restaurant. Kid's are only permitting in the restaurant on Sundays. This is a little unfair for parents that can't find babysitters; however, this is perfect for business dinners, girl's nights out and romantic dates.

The food is absolutely delicious! The bread is perfect, the appetizers are amazing (esp. assorted meats, cheese, grapes, etc), and the entrees will leave you speechless. I am not going to comment on the desserts because I am bias. However, I must admit that our vanilla gelato is perfect with the warm flourless chocolate souffle.

Dreamy Gelato & Chocolates and Simply You Creations partnered on this truly custom project to create unparalleled gifts for the 2010 Eventology conference.

To create one custom truffle for an event is an aggressive task, but setting a goal to create seven custom truffles with seven custom packaging was pure madness:) The custom truffles and packaging needed to be unique, personal and complimentary; therefore, we decided to create one custom flavor and select one standard box color.

Our pecans are roasted at our store and the caramel is handmade from scratch. This is a true Southern/Georgia truffle.

Standard Box Color: Pink

This color was selected based on the Eventology 2010 logo. Simply You Creations started with this box and hand customized each of the boxes for the event. Custom ribbons were also created.

Focusing on the community - In 2010, we will dedicate our time and effort to raise funds for one charity. The charity we have selected will be announced very soon.
Entertaining in addition to serving - We have created a calendar of upcoming events at Dreamy Gelato & Chocolates in 2010. Our goal in 2010 is to make memories by serving exceptional desserts in a fun environment. Some upcoming events includes face painting, caricature, musical bands, tours, clowns, and so much more.
Celebrating special moments - Serving our desserts at weddings, corporate events, charity events, baby showers, mitzvahs, and birthday parties has been a truly satisfying part of 2009. In October, we had the opportunity to design custom chocolates for Sydney + Chris' wedding reception. It was a blast working with Sydney to design her perfect truffles. Sydney feel in love with our raspberry dark chocolate truffle when we first met during a Bloomingdale's bridal event.

Since her wedding colors were white, silver and black, we tried to incorporate each color in the different aspects of the wedding favors.

The truffle outer coat was white chocolate. We used fresh raspberries and dark chocolate to create the center ganache.

A cute platinum favor box was selected and black glitter European ribbon was the finishing touch.

About a month ago, I met with the sweetest bride that wanted us to create her dream wedding favors. She wanted chocolate covered gold almonds in a beautiful box with custom tags. The order was truly custom since we had never created chocolate covered gold almonds.

We worked with Laura, owner of ink & paint, to create the custom tag. I was amazed with Laura's attention to detail and high quality product. The wedding was held at the timeless Montaluce Winery.

I love working with clients that push the creativity envelop. Currently, I am working with Emilie Duncan of Emilie Duncan Event Planning in Columbus Ohio to create custom chocolates for her client. What makes this project unique is the variation in design and custom flavor. The truffles will be displayed on the tables and admired by guests once they enter the reception hall.

Vanilla Bean Milk Chocolate Truffle finished with an ivory monogram.

Fresh Raspberry Dark Chocolate Truffle finished with a magenta monogram.

Mint Dark Chocolate Truffle finished with a green monogram.

Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Truffle finished with a blue monogram.
